Vegetable Chart Part II

Hello Friends!

Today's blogpost is going to be the extended version of the previous vegetable chart I have posted. Our friendly friends from IG ( @evep2013 and @pikucoco ) have generously shared with me what they have found for their fur babies.

Sweetie pie @pikucoco considerably thought of  doing two versions for this chart- one is the shorter version that allows you to stick it on your fridge and the other is the full on version that contains all the information of the vegetables.

@pikucoco and I decided to team up and do a chart for all the bunny parents out there. All these information are retrieved from a French bunny website ( http://www.margueritecie.com/listelegumes.php ) provided by lovely @evep2013.

I would love to thanks @evep2013 for sharing and @pikucoco for doing the chart with me! Hope this will be of great help to all :)

Understanding Your Pet's Diagnostic Testing

As promised, I am back with another post related to Dew's last vet visit. This post is intended to educate more bunny owners on understanding your pet's diagnostic testing result.

Dew lost his appetite and stopped consuming any food some time last month. The very first concern that came to my mind was if he was down with GI Stasis. With a heavy heart, I rushed him to the vet immediately that very day.

Dew and I both waited anxiously for the blood test results after the first round of consultation. As predicted, the results showed that Dew wasn't doing well at all. With the result sheet shown, The terms printed on it doesn't ring a bell to me. Although the Vet did explained those that are of more concerned (the two with an arrow), I am still curious to find out what does each one actually mean.

I was kindly allowed to be given a printed sheet of all the terms and it's meaning and I thought of sharing it with all the bunny owners with the same problem as me.

The Different Tests And Terms

Dew's First Test Results (Ill)

Dew's Second Test Result After 3 Weeks (Recovered)

You can still see some Lows and Highs in the second results sheet but the vet reassured that those are normal and not worrying :) Dew is back to his healthy self now and we are all happy about it!

This sheet was truly of great help to me and I wouldn't let it pass without sharing! Hope I am of some help to anyone out there :)

Disclaimer: The results here are purely related to Dew at that point. The test results is in no way the same as any of your pets with or without the same problem . Please check any of your concerns with your local vet.

Back To Basics

Hello Friends!

The other day, I was with Dew at the vet clinic for his follow up check up ( I will be doing a post on it soon). His Vet educated me with something that I never heard before; feeding of lawn grass. She said it was of some good to the bunnies and suggested me to grow some lawn grass at home so I could feed them to M & D.

With the suggestion taken in but not much information given, I went home and goggled hoping to find some answers to my questions. I came across The Rabbit House's blog and found a little article on it. You can read it at:

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the information above. I am purely sharing what I found from the website :)

I didn't managed to find any sources that explains nor educate me on the benefits of lawn grass. I would like to ask if our friends out there have experiences with lawn grass or have any knowledge on them. I would appreciate if you could leave a comment down below sharing with me your experiences with lawn grass :)

Thank you for reading and your support as always. Ta Ta!

Bag Of Gold

Hello There My Friends!

In Today's post, I am going to share with you on how to make a handmade hay toy for your beloved bunnies. I saw this on YouTube and twitched it a little my way. They are low in cost, easy to make and not to even mention that they are such great and fun toy for your bunnies :) Without further ado, let's jump right in!

What you will need:

Brown Paper Bags ( with or without handles)

 Pencil

Crafting/ Normal Scissors

Sisal (Rabbit Safe!) or Ribbons (Non Rabbit Safe)

Your Bunnies Favourite Hay

Step1:
Draw some cute shapes on the bag.
The size of the shape determines the difficulty level. (Smaller- Harder for them to pull out the hay, Larger-Easier) You can use a shape puncher in this step if you have one :)

Step2:
Cut out the shapes you've drawn.

Step3:
Put your bunny's favourite hay into the bag.

Step 4:
Tie your bag together with a Sisal-recommend ( rabbit safe) or a Ribbon-not recommend (non rabbit safe).
Ps: ( I couldn't get my hands on Sisal so I used ribbons instead. If your bunny is a chewer, please do not use ribbons!! I know my bunnies won't mess with the ribbon and I also keep a close eye on them while playing, so I know they will be fine. )

Final Step:
Present your work to your bunnies. I think it's Mellow and Dew approved!

I would love to see your creation :) Please share them with me through my Instragram (cookieinajar) or you can post as a picture comment down below. May all have a fun time making this cute little bag of gold!

XOXOXO

The O' So Yummy Chart

Have you bunny parents been in a situation where by you're equipped with all the vegetable names but there will be some that doesn't ring a bell to you? Fret not; I am here to help!

Being stuck in that situation before, I came up with a chart that provides the vegetable names and their pictures. It truly helped me out when I go grocery shopping for my fur babies and I thought I would share it. Hope this little chart could be of some help to you too:)

Ps: I apologise for the sizing of the chart, Blogger doesn't allow me to insert a file document therefore I had to print screen it instead. If you are interested, simply leave a comment down below and I will email you a copy :)

Just Not Meant To Be

Thinking back, the bonding sessions with M&D wasn't that challenging at all! The anticipation for them to meet was way too long; executing the plan was all I had on my mind! The mission started when Dew was declared mites-free.

I started by introducing Mellow to Dew (who was inside his cage); not much progression was made, just tons of sniffing and wondering around. As expected, Mellow being such a trooper; she didn't growl or attack Dew once. That made nervous Mama really relieved :)

With that little progression, I decided to level up the game! This time was 'meeting in a neutral space'. It means bringing both bunnies to a space that has not been discovered; mine was the toilet. I equipped the area with tons of hay and armed myself with a spray bottle and a towel just in case they fought.

Everything went pretty slow and clam at first; not much interaction was made. Both of them seemed uninterested in each other- either lying in different spots or munching on hay. I then started using some techniques to draw them closer- the veggie bowls were brought in. The little gluttons started chomping on the vegetables placed in a bowl next to the another.

There were times when the two ate from each others' bowl. Too engrossed in their food or what, still no interaction was made. As time slowly past by, they were both tired and decided to take a rest- in different spots; opposite each other. It was then when I realised an hour had past. I decided to end the session and try again next time.

Time passed, Dew started dispensing licks and kisses to Mellow but little Miss M was too reserved to return any. Dew's 'hard' work paid off and Mellow's little heart gave in. She started accepting his licks and both seemed well. The final step was to introduced them to the 'common area'- Mellow's territory.

Other than some chasing around and humping, no fighting was really involved. Dew still dispense licks and they would sleep next to each other; this continued for a few weeks before their final break up. It was when Dew started becoming real aggressive- plucking of Mellow's fur and chasing her around attempting to bite her. It was then I concluded they were not meant to be.

An incident when D gave M a deep bite on her ankle when she jumped up on his cage to reach the veggie bowl left me real concerned. They now have different play time in the same common place but staying in different cages. At times, Dew would act aggressively even when Mellow's inside her cage.

Their unsuccessful bonding left me disheartened and I felt really sorry for Mellow. Dew's dramatic attitude changed left me so confused. Maybe he just wanted all of my love... Oh how I wish we could communicate in words. I have a place in my heart that secretly still wish they would bond someday. Oh I wish...

When they were still a pair...

The New Addition To The Family

Hey all friends!

Hope all enjoyed the little story on how Mellow and I met in the previous post:) Ps:( I even got too ahead of myself and got a little emotional when typing my message to Mellow! Ha! How embarrassing!)

Alrighty! We shall start with a little story about Dew,followed by how Mellow's and Dew's bonding session ended.

 Mister Dew :)

As some IG friends might know, Dew was an adopted bunny from a local shelter-(SPCA SINGAPORE). After a year or so after Mellow's arrival,an idea of introducing her a partner came to mind. Having been doing volunteering work and reading up on abandon/abused bunnies, I decided that I should adopt a bunny instead. Excited and eager, I started my bunny hunting journey.

The journey was like a roller coaster ride, so much emotion was involved. I knew finding the "one" for Mellow and I wasn't easy but it was way more challenging than I thought.

Multiple visits to the shelter left me disheartened; either 'the one' was on pending status or I would have to adopt a pair instead. Though disheartened, giving up was never a consideration. I continued with the search with a hopeful heart.

Dew or Jack as he was previously know, wasn't love at first sight.  Him at the SPCA was skinny and inactive, I passed through him with a glance. The second time I visited the shelter, he was still there; this time round, very actively playing with newspaper. He even came up to say Hi when I approached him. Of course, my impression changed and we played together for a while more.

After much consideration, I decided to adopt Jack (now Dew). I remembered him having mites and I have to bring him for pet visits. He was a tiny boy when he arrived but I pulped him up with all the nutritious food he needed :) Was he ill-treated? Or abandoned by irresponsible owners? I am so curious to find out. The shelter did not specify nor tell us his background so it will always be an unknown.

Regardless, I believed he was meant to be and he will always be my baby boy even with all the odds we faced. I am glad I rescued him and gave him a new life, a new start. I hope he feels happy staying with us and likes his new Mama, Me:)

A Message to Dew:

Mr Sneaky Pants,I am glad I rescued you. No matter what bad things that had happened to you in the past shall all remain history. Mama will try my best to give you a better life you much deserved. I know you can be a little sensitive and aggressive at times but I do not blame you for that. I know it is hard to have gone through what you have but please remember, you are now in safe hands and all shall be fine. You know words will never be able to express it all but I just want to let you know I love you my good boy and I am looking forward to creating much more happy memories with you :)
